Sheffield Park is beginning to taking shape on Burke Mountain. The community’s newest and highly anticipated neighbourhood park is currently under construction with an expected completion date in spring 2022. Visitors can choose between being active or relaxing in this innovative two acre park. There will be lounge chairs to relax and socialize, and seating platforms and picnic tables that take advantage of the expansive views to the south. For something more active, there is a rubberized walking track with vertical markers up the steepest slope in the park. Descend via the Boomerang-inspired pathway that is built at an accessible grade so everyone can easily access all of the park amenities.

For the kids, the park includes a water spray and play area with dams and channels taking inspiration from Burke Mountain’s many creeks. For younger children there is a sand and water play area to spark their imaginations. There are also slides and climbing structures for the older kids found in the middle of the park. Youth are welcomed with a basketball court, ball hockey net and mini skate spot. All of these amenities are supported by a washroom building and a water fountain so everyone can relax and enjoy the park for as long as they want.
Once the park is complete, there will be a community celebration and ribbon cutting. Watch this space for more details in spring 2022.
