Burke Mountain residents can gather to enjoy a cup of coffee or wine-and-dine with a view at the Burke Mountain Discovery Centre and IBEX Café + Kitchen (3537 Princeton Avenue). This facility provides a space to come together and learn about the future Burke Mountain Village, a planned neighbourhood hub anticipated to feature approximately 120,000 sq. ft. of retail space, Burke Mountain Community Centre, public plaza, and housing.
The Discovery Centre aims to provide the community with an inclusive, welcoming, accessible and engaging space. It includes large-wall art displays, development maps, and visually engaging pieces, including a custom mural of Burke Mountain designed by a local artist, Anja Jane. Four interactive displays allow users to navigate and explore the anticipated future Burke Mountain Village in 3D. The space is also available for booking events or meetings.
Adjacent to the Discovery Centre is IBEX Café + Kitchen — the first café to open in Northeast Coquitlam. It features an assortment of freshly baked goods, sandwiches, specialty coffee, wine and beer. Following an extensive Request for Proposals (RFP) process, PGA Hospitality Inc. (PGA) was selected by the City as the café operator.
The café is well known for quality coffee and espresso, and also for great-tasting food, including sandwiches, flatbreads, desserts and bakery items. It also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a variety of craft beers and wine.
